Presenting Content
As the title promises, in this class we dealt with the question how to present content in an approbriate, professional and interesting way. Since we are all students of the teacher's degree, we focused on presenting content in a classroom situation.
In each session, we concentrated on a particular way to present content. These were, for example, worksheets, posters or PowerPoint-presentations. We also tried out several online-tools as media for presenting content - this homepage created with weebly.com is only one example.
Below, you can find the results of our work. If you like, your invited to download the inclass-products and use them as an inspiration. I'm also looking forward to read about your opinions about our work and your personal experiences with the tools in my blog!

1. Re-Desing of an old worksheet with Mocrosoft Word and OpenOffice
The task was to re-design the layout of a worksheet we did in school as pupils or at university as students by using Microsoft Word or OpenOffice. To improve the worksheet we firstly analyzed the worksheet's disadvantages. Afterwards we considered which features should be improved and why.
Here, you can see our result and download the Re-Design of the worksheet:

3. Comic Strip with "bitstrips.com"
To encourage and motivate your pupils its always helpful to create
worksheets which attract their interest. A good method for that is to
create little comic strips: they are eye-catching, funny to read and
unconventional. bitstrips.com
offers the opportunity to create comicstrips online with very simple
and self-explanatory tools. bitstrips.com is for free; if you like to
save your comicstrips you have to create an account.
In class we created a three-pannel comicstrip for a grammar worksheet on conditional sentences which you can download here. You can find the original colored version and an additional black-and-white-version as a master for copies.

4. Digital Poster Design with "glogster.com"
Of course you can create posters with scissors and glue as shown above. But if you like to be a bit more "professional" and your drawing skills are not the best you can use a web tool which is accessible for free: glogster.com. This site offers the opportunity to upload your own images and/or to use a huge range of provided pictures and illustrations to design your individual poster. It is also possible to create a class account for your pupils.
In class we tested this tool by digitalizing the posters we created before:

5. Podcast
With Audacity
pupils and teachers
can easily produce
audio files
The medium mostly used in the classroom to present content is written speech in any form. New media in the classroom offer a different medium: spoken language. Media as videos and CDs have been introduced to the classroom a long time ago. Recently, podcasts downloaded from the internet are a useful and popular medium which transmits recent topics into the classroom. Teachers can download podcasts from reliably sources or they can produce their own audio files to present content to their pupils in a rather unconventional way. Of course, it is also possible to let students produce their own audio file and present it as podcast online.
To try this out, we produced a podcast on a recent topic (EHEC in Europe) with the software Audacity. You can download the podcast as MP3-file right here:
